A belief or set of beliefs held with absolute conviction despite evidence to the contrary. It affects the person's reasoning, memory, thinking and behaviour. Examples are Persecutory delusions, where the person believes they are being followed, paranoid delusions, where they believe they are being spied on, delusions of grandeur, etc.
